For the month of October, Corning Chiropractic Associates is joining the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) in promoting October as National Chiropractic Health Month! We’ll be sharing tips and strategies on preventing back injury in addition to strengthening the back. Because of this, the campaign is focusing on the theme #BackToBasics, so check out our Facebook page to stay up to date!

According to the ACA, back pain remains one of the most prevalent and disabling conditions worldwide. It is one of the most common reasons that patients visit their doctors, and one of the most common conditions for which doctors prescribe pain medications.

It is estimated that up to 80% of people will suffer from back pain at some point in their lives. In addition, with the overuse and abuse of prescription opioid painkillers in the United States still a major public health issue, it’s essential for health care consumers to understand that spinal manipulation and other conservative treatments can treat common musculoskeletal conditions such as back pain effectively and safely.

We’re very proud of the work we do in our community – we offer conservative treatments for neck and back pain (in addition to many other types of conditions) as a first step in dealing with these types of conditions, rather than drugs and invasive procedures. Healthcare is a team effort, and we understand the importance of working with other local healthcare professionals to make sure each patient receives the best possible care possible. We’re proud to work with local massage therapists, medical doctors, and physical therapists to ensure this.

The community recognizes this as well – on September 25, 2017, the Steuben County Legislature declared October 2017 as “National Chiropractic Health Month” with an official proclamation!
